As a young girl my daughter Skye was constantly rearranging her room. I could always hear her moving furniture, she was determined to create a new look, it was almost as if this new look represented a new beginning to her life. While Skye may have been a bit extreme I too find myself changing the look of our home from time to time, repainting, moving furniture, even getting new drapes. I have found the process invigorating and the new look would create a new energy in me that would reignite every time I walked into the room. As for my husband he could really care less, in fact he might not even notice the changes for some time(I’m sure many of you women can relate). As a female financial advisor this same phenomenon is not limited to the home or bedroom but can actually have a tremendous impact on your business growth.
In all my years of coaching I have found that while most male advisors are content implementing the same business model and process for the past 25 years, for female financial advisors this constancy may feel stale and create discontent. Just as we like to create a new look in our home, update our wardrobe or even a new makeup routine why wouldn’t that same concept apply to our business?
So many female financial advisors come to me needing and wanting a change but not really understanding why. It’s as if something is missing in their business and they don’t exactly know what that is. As we begin working together what they don’t realize is that we are starting the process of remodeling their business. We start with their focus, their target market, we then recreate their message which becomes the foundation to their new business model.
What is most important here is not necessarily the changes we make (which can also be powerful) but the renewed energy and excitement the female advisors experience through this process. They LOVE the change; they love the new look and feel to their business and can’t wait to share the new image with everyone in their database. Reinventing their business becomes a very powerful activity, infusing new life and confidence into their daily activities, all of this can completely recharge the growth of your business.
While your male counterparts may be content with a 25 year routine always remember that you as a woman are different, unique and incredibly competent when you embrace your talents, strengths and individuality.
