What is the one principle that consistently holds true about successful female financial advisors? They are driven by a purpose that is bigger and more important to them than themself.
For some women, it’s making an impact on the lives of their clients.
For other women, it’s creating a better life.
But when you see a woman out there who is floundering, you can bet she has not uncovered her underlying purpose.
Watch the video and I’ll share an example:
I was always a great athlete, and played a lot of volleyball. One year I decided to get into tennis. Keep in mind that volleyball is a team sport, my job on the volleyball court was to inspire and motivate the other five women to beat the other team, to succeed over the other team.
But in tennis, it was a one-on-one experience. So when the woman across the court was struggling, I’d start coaching her! I knew immediately, I wasn’t in this for my own win, I needed others, I needed to have an impact on other people’s lives.
I see this time and time and time again with women financial advisors. In fact, recently I’ve been coaching, a very successful advisor, she has over 120 million under management.
Based on traditional success metrics you would say she’s got the world by the tail but she’s unmotivated, unfocused and lost her drive.
Why? Because her whole motivation, most of her career, was to create an amazing life for her two daughters. Today, her two daughters are on their own. They’re succeeding, they’re paying their own way. Her job, which she focused on, is done.
On the other hand, in her business she just feels like she’s drowning in service. There’s no real impact that she is making.
This is a common phenomenon with female financial advisors. When you reach a certain level of success, it doesn’t bring you joy, because you’re simply maintaining that old level of success.
There is no greater feeling than working hard, struggling to achieve success, simply because you want to see other people succeed in their life. That is so rewarding.
So if you’re struggling, if you’re lacking that drive, if you’re lacking that energy, if you’re lacking that motivation, it’s time to redesign your practice. No, that doesn’t mean giving up what you have. It simply means remodeling your practice, and refocusing your growth efforts on something that sparks a fire in you!
