This strategy makes women advisors sick, and after enduring an email executing this strategy, I wondered why it’s still a viable option?
I received a sales email promoting a killer script to overcome objections and close the sale. I knew better than to open it, but I was hoping that maybe something had changed.
And then I read it. I was shocked and physically shaken.
The hesitation to opening the email was pale to how appalled it made me feel after reading it! The financial industry has been delivering the same script and strategy for over 25 years.
This strategy’s focus is about not taking NO for an answer but verbally maneuvering a prospect into a corner, hoping that they would change their mind. Just reading this sales email to the half-way mark, I was to give up my lunch.
Even worse, as a National Training Officer, I had to teach these strategies. It ALWAYS felt sleazy and manipulative.
It makes me sad that the financial industry continues to go down this path, but there are reasons and a purpose behind our experiences with most things in life.
As a financial advisor, these experiences motivated me to create a whole new approach to building a successful financial business based on what works and feels good to women without manipulative strategies.
At femXadvisor, we have left Prospecting, Selling, and Closing in the dust and embraced a more feminine approach to attracting clients based on:
- Building Relationships
- Inspiring
- Motivating
Just the sound of this approach prompts me to exhale.
I am NOT a weepy kind of woman; trust me, I can be hard as nails. But my reaction to this email reminds me how much I (like many women advisors) abhor the typical strategies and approaches taught by most firms.
But when provided a new business model designed around women’s strengths and desires, well, everything changes, and life is great again.
When will the industry wake up and realize people (especially women) DO NOT WANT TO BE COERCED or manhandled? Even men do not like it!
Women advisors are the great expectancy for the industry’s future.
Still, we must have the courage to carve out a path, one that feels authentic, making an impact while providing high value first, then the money becomes the bonus for doing what is right.
We need more firms to provide women advisors space to carve out their path, one that feels authentic, making an impact while delivering high-value first, then the money becomes the bonus for doing what is right.
