This movie inspired my business success…

There aren’t too many movies that make me cry and it bothers my husband as I sit dry eyed while he is reaching for the tissues, but if you find me watching the movie “Rudy” you will see me ball.
Crazy I know, it’s not a love story and isn’t designed to be a tear jerker but Rudy’s fearless journey to achieve his dream gets me every time. I can totally relate to the many challenges he overcame, using hard work, discipline and focus, qualities that most all-financial advisors adhere to, but it was his fearlessness and passion that allowed him to reach his dream.
Rudy’s desire to play football for Notre Dame (even though he was just 5’6” and only 165lbs) was deeply embedded in his bones, but it wasn’t until his friend was killed in the mill that he was shaken into action. Isn’t that often the case for many of us? It takes a crisis to get you on your true path to success? It was then that he became fearless, not worried about what others said, but listening to his heart, his soul, ignoring the discouraging messages and the pressure to settle for less in life. His FEARLESS focus and relentless determination allowed him to achieve his dream regardless of the obstacles, roadblocks and naysayers. AMAZING.
Can you imagine if you approached your business with the same fearlessness?
It would have been so easy for Rudy to give up, follow the path society had deemed appropriate for him but he wasn’t having it. His fearless nature and burning passion for Notre Dame Football turned the least likely individuals into supporters. His undying commitment inspired others, his love for Notre Dame Football changed behaviors and attitudes in most everyone he met. His total single focus and passion was the engine that allowed him to be carried off the field as a champion, on the shoulders of his teammates.
Every advisor I coach has an underlying purpose and it’s not about making a lot of money. It’s through the process of writing their personal story that we are able to uncover their true path to success. It’s often hard peeling back all the layers of limiting messaging to uncover their core foundation and passion, but the process is liberating and the end result energizing. Once honed, buffed and polished your story will become your mantra. As you share your story with others they will immediately become more intrigued and interested in what you do while at the same time you will be reinforcing your own purpose and mission over and over again, helping to bring that vision into your reality.
