Why These Female Advisors Get Emotional
December 15, 2016
As I walked off the stage women would look me straight in the eye and say “Thank you!” Not the obligatory thank you for making a good presentation, these “Thank you’s” go so much deeper.
Some walk right up to me and share their appreciation with a touch, others mouth it as I walk by.
They know I am their ally, I understand their challenges and am willing to be their voice and fight for their success.
Others come up to me with tears in their eyes not understanding why they are suddenly getting emotional, but I always know.
For the first time someone has spoken for these women, these brave amazing female advisors who have forged their path in an industry designed for men, an industry that struggles to embrace their unique strengths as women.
As I share my own experiences of success, success riddled with flaws and vulnerabilities they see themselves. As I tell my stories they hear their own life unraveling.
As I remind them of their unique and amazing strengths they feel energized and appreciated. And when I tell them there is another way of building a business designed specifically for women they breathe a sigh of relief, finally someone gets them and has a better process that accentuates and leverages their unique and powerful strengths as women.
There are men in the room, managers, directors, company leaders, but their numbers are few. Most of the men smile, nod their heads in agreement, understanding that I am hitting the mark and reaching the audience. recognizing they could not have the same impact.
It’s not just because they are men but because they too are still learning about these warrior women who defy the odds.
With each presentation I make I see a new group of brave women begin to recognize that their true power and strength happens when their purpose and passion collide.
They begin to see their personal path to success, not the one they have learned, but their unique path based on what is important to them.
In the end they leave my presentation understanding that it is their purpose that fuels their business, their desire to make a difference with each and every client and it is their passion for their work that energizes them each and every day.
In the end their success and production is simply the bonus for doing meaningful work. When purpose and passion collide amazing things happen.
